Stonestreet Professional Screen Acting & Production Residency Program

Stonestreet’s Professional Residency Program offers professionals an immersive experience within an independent film studio environment. Alongside fellow professionals, actors will be working on films, TV, and mixed media projects in an environment that works with high end professional lighting, cameras, production and sound equipment.  Actors can practically apply and broaden their training while embracing the art of screen acting and all aspects of production from the audition phase through production and post-production.

The Professional Residency Program will put the actors’ skills to work, taking them out of a ‘classroom’ environment and bridging them to the industry by working on set with constructive and nurturing working professionals and a fully operating film & television studio. The Professional Residency Program not only offers hands-on experience on film sets, but voiceover booths, writing rooms, and more.

With an emphasis on discovering one’s unique presence and range on screen, professional actors build on previous training they may have, playing challenging and varied roles in original films, sit-coms, and dramatic series. Actors learn to embrace both naturalism and character work while honing screen analysis skills that help nurture their individuality, dramatic and comedic talents. The goal of the Professional Residency Program is to help the actors find what they have to bring to the set that is unique with every role as well as supporting talents where they can work and produce their own careers.

Stonestreet's Professional Residency Program offers an exciting curriculum consisting of five classes, which can be taken individually or altogether. The classes include:

  • Directing the Actor on Screen

  • Creating Your Own Material for Screen

  • Producing Your Career

  • Voiceover

  • Pre2Post Production

These classes are meticulously designed to prepare the professionals to thrive within the industry, and include Weekly Evening Industry Interviews & Auditions for actors after their fifth week of studio (or immediately if they’ve taken with us before). This allows actors to become practiced, professional auditioners while making new industry contacts with agents and casting directors each week. Professionals are immersed in the culture of the studio’s productions, experiencing what it’s like to work creatively and be directed. Beyond this, they will also learn to create, edit, and produce their own work and careers. Many actors find employment from working both in front of and behind the camera while at Stonestreet and shortly thereafter.
