Los Angeles Program 2024

Stonestreet Studios Los Angeles Intensive:
Screen Acting & Production Residency

Stonestreet Conservatory of Screen Acting, one of NYU Tisch Drama’s advanced training studios, dedicated solely to the unique art of screen acting, has launched it’s first intensive January Term in Los Angeles. Current Stonestreet students who have completed two years of primary training at one of NYU Tisch Drama’s Conservatories and at least one semester or more at Stonestreet’s Conservatory program are invited to apply. Los Angeles based screen actors who have worked with our LA affiliates may contact Stonestreet for information regarding applications, recommendations and auditions.

Stonestreet Studios Conservatory’s independent studio relationship is unlike other Tisch Drama Department Conservatories is uniquely off campus. This January, we will continue to offer what has been our “Independent Curriculum” for the last 20+ years at The Lot, an approved Historic LA film studio, where we have a strong faculty and staff support network as well as industry support relationships, important to the professional development and future of our students and alums.

Under the direction of Chris Modoono, Alyssa Rallo Bennett and Gary O. Bennett the program has three components: Working on a new pilot series in LA at our LA Studio at THE LOT, Screen Audition Coaching & Master Classes with guest professionals and a hosted lecture series, giving students a rounded experience of what it’s like to live and work in LA, continued practical production experience and training with Stonestreet’s faculty and LA affiliates, and audition and master class experience with LA industry professionals.

For the production and training, each student team will act in multiple episodes of an original pilot series with Chris Modoono as faculty/showrunner/director/writer along with Guest Producer/Writer/Directors including Stonestreet LA Staff and Alums; Antonio Macia, Christopher Naoki Lee, Gabriel Frye-Behar. From 12pm-6pm guest directors and writers will contribute to creating two new Stonestreet pilot series, shot in and around LA featuring the participating actors. Actors will be either on set in production during this time, rehearsing, prepping for evening master classes or in the editing room reviewing footage and observing the editing process.

Evenings 7/7:30pm-9/9:30pm will be master classes with LA professional directors, managers, agents, and casting directors and will be hosted at The LOT, or conveniently at the guests workplace.

Mornings 10am-1pm will consist of exploring LA, with Stonestreet Alums and working colleagues, in a more relaxed social and collegial environment, giving students a sense and beginning of the growing professional community that has emerged from Stonestreet’s Conservatory and Indie Film Studio.
